Who has the power to abolish life imprisonment of juvenile offenders?
What are some proactive things that people can do to help end this?
When will people start to realize that it's not ok to put a minor to death?
Where (which states) is putting a juvenile to death not against the law?
Why is the U.S. the only country other than Somalia that will put a minor to death?
How was this never deemed "against" what the Consitiution is all about?
Should the people of America vote to make minors being sentenced to death/lifetime incarceration obsolete?
Should the people of America vote to make minors being sentenced to death/lifetime incarceration obsolete?
This question really stands out and interests me the most because if there is ever going to be any change, its going to take everyone to get it done.
what level still determines a 'minor' and why. If a 16 year old can enlist for early acceptance into the military, a 15 ear old can drive a car, and the nation already admits there are 14 year olds having children, smoking and drinking, then why should a 17 year old committing murder be treated any differently then a 19 year old doing the same act with the same reason.
ReplyDeletereviewing 'what makes a minor not subject to the same laws' would be a strong point to make if you are against them being subject to life imprisonment or death sentence. However the same question might be a fatal blow to your argument as well, but leaving it out undermines your logic even worse.
You should maybe research, "why should juveniles be charged as an adult"?
ReplyDeletefrom what i have read you have some great arguments to write a great paper. have you looked at what United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
ReplyDeleteI think you are doing a very good job on showing where you want to take this topic. I believe you should go into detail on what countries do not allow minors to be put to death and why.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could state on some reasons of why its not ok to put minors to death such as religious reasons, rights, etc.
